Air Tool Oils and Air Motor Oils | Not The Same
Air motor oil and air tool oil are not always the same. It is important to read what type of oil is required by the manufacturer for your tool. Any type of lubricant that is required for your tool the manufacturer will be the source for all specific and correct information.
What must be lubricated?
Normally all moving parts of air-powered tools need to be lubricated. Dynabrade recommends using an FRL to bring the correct amount of oil to your tool.
What lubricant is needed for Dynabrade air motors?
Dynabrade recommends using a 10 weight non-detergent oil, 10W/NR. The oil we sell has a flash point of 300 degrees Fahrenheit (95842). This oil is to be used for all rotor and vane type air motors. The 10W non-detergent oil is best for high RPM air motors.
Lighter weight oil and lubricant containing solvents will flush grease from bearings and gear assemblies. Solvents evaporate easily and provide little protection against friction and water vapor.
Note: When a lubricant has solvents in it, it will have a lower flash point.
What lubricant is needed for gear assemblies?
A gear oil (95848) is recommended for use on right angle gears and sliders. A grease (95544) is to be used on inline gears, bearings, and sliders.
Distributors of lubricants may not know the correct lubricant required for a specific power tool, so it is always best to check the manufacturer’s guidelines.
