Why does my Dynabrade tool need to be repaired?
At some point you will need to repair or “tune up” your tool because of wearable parts. This is a common thing that happens with almost every tool from every manufacturer. What causes a Dynabrade tool needing to be repaired though?
If you are unfamiliar with pneumatic tool maintenance, think of this metaphor... Compare a Dynabrade tool with an automobile. Both require fuel supplied to them (our tool being air and oil) and both need periodic maintenance to keep them in optimal running condition. They also both always come with warranties when purchased new, but if you weren’t to change the oil or filters in your car, the manufacturer wouldn’t warrantee the automobile just as we wouldn’t warrantee a tool that wasn’t maintained properly.
If you have the mechanical aptitude and confidence in buying the parts and tools to perform your own repairs, that is ideal. We also will repair tools for those that are not so much a do-it-yourselfer. What would cause your tool in need of a look over?
If you are experiencing your tool not running like it used to or see imperfections on your work surface, this may be a sign that the tool needs some maintenance. In random orbital sanders, swirl marks on your work piece are an indicator. While in our polishers and buffers, you would notice inconsistent finishes and not running the speed it should.
If your tool is not running at the proper speed, it could be as simple as an overused bearing or from abuse or lack of maintenance in a short period of time.
If your tool is locking up or no longer working, this can typically be a sign of lack of maintenance or oil provided to the tool. The rotor vanes could dry out from the lack of oil provided and could possibly crack, break, or jam in the motor assembly.
When your tool is missing parts or broken in a way you are unable to hold or operate it, one of our repair experts can help. We have heard plenty of ways a tool can break such as being dropped from a high distance, being ran over with a forklift, using it as a hammer; those are just the more profound ones.
Whatever your concern is, we can address it and make sure there is nothing wrong with your tool. If you registered your tool with the lifetime warranty we have, we strongly encourage you ask our repair experts for assistance. If you believe you know what is wrong and can easily fix it, we encourage you to buy the parts (which we do sell) and go at it. Either way, Dynabrade is happy to help.
