Contact Arms: What works with each Dynafile tool?
Belt tools can be used in many different industries for sanding, grinding, filing, deburring, polishing, blending, finishing, and more. There is a whole family of Dynafile tools, our signature belt tools, and their respective contact arms. What makes the contact arms different for each model and can you use them interchangeably? We are going to break down the contact arms available for our Dynafile, Dynafile II, Mini Dynafile II, and the Dynafile III.
DYNAFILE
The Dynafile is our flagship tool. We replaced tedious hand filing and sanding with a powerful abrasive tool that helps eliminate worker’s fatigue and complete the job faster. The Dynafile can accept belts as small as 1/8” wide to ½” wide and work in areas as small as 3/8” in diameter. The Dynafile, model 14000, comes with our 11218 contact arm that includes a platen pad and can fit a ½” wide belt. The Dynafile Versatility Kit comes with the Dynafile, model 14000, an assortment of abrasive belts, and five contact arms, including 11213, 11216, 11218, 11219, and 11231.

-11255 for ½” wide belts; The Cross Bow Arm allows an operator to polish, deburr, or ream with one 180 wrist turn. Used best for 1” to 4” wide round openings.
-11258 comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts; This arm helps an operator blend stainless steel effortlessly.
-11261 comes with ½” platen pad and made for ½” wide belts; The Banana arm is used to give the work piece an in-line scratch pattern.
-11262 comes with ½” hard platen pad and made for ½” wide belts; This contact arm is used for flat grinding while using the platen pad at or near corners and edges of large radiuses. The contact wheel is offset to prevent gouging.
-11297 for ½” wide belts; This contact arm was made for 60 to 80 grits and the guide wheel prevents undercutting. Remove raised material within .020” or less.
DYNAFILE II
The Dynafile II is one of our most versatile belt tools. The grinding head pivots 360 for working in the most efficient position. To get the most out of this tool, we also sell collets and chucks that allow you to change this into a die grinder or drill. The Dynafile II can accept belts as small as 1/8” wide to ¾” wide.
There are several different models of the Dynafile II.
Model 40320 which includes contact arm 11206.
Model 40335 which includes contact arm 11203.
Model 40381 which includes contact arm 11206 and works at a slow speed.
Model 40326 which includes contact arm 11287.
Model 40321 is the Versatility Kit that includes the Dynafile II, model 40320, and contact arms 11206, 11203, and 11204. Three platen pads, 50010 collet for die grinder use, 95262 and 95281 wrenches, and abrasive belts are also included.
Model 40352 which includes contact arm 11203.
Model 40353 which includes contact arm 11203 and a more durable drive-wheel than the 40352.
Model 40330 is the Vacuum Dynafile II which includes contact arm 11206 and our self-contained “bag-within-bag” dust collection system.
Model 40610 is the Electric Dynafile II which includes contact arm 11203.
Model 40611 is the Versatility Kit which includes the Electric Dynafile II, model 40610, and contact arms 11203, 11202, and 11204. An assortment of platen pads and abrasive belts are also included.
The contact arms that work on all Dynafile II, Electric Dynafile II, and Vacuum Dynafile II models:
-11200 comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts. This contact arms allows for work on broad areas, can blend spot welds, and can leave an in-line scratch pattern.
-11201 comes with ½” thin platen pad and made for ½” wide belts. This contact arm can be used to reach channels as small as 7/16”.
-11202 comes with ¼” soft platen pad and made for ¼” wide belts.
-11203 comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts.
-11204 for ¼” or ½” wide belts and makes strap polishing easy.
-11305 for 1/8”, ¼” or ½” wide belts.
-11206 comes with ¾” hard platen pad and made for 5/8” or ¾” wide belts.
-11220 for 5/8” or ¾” wide belts with steel wheel. Perfect for polishing turbine blades.
-11300 for ½” wide belts with steel wheel. Perfect for polishing turbine blades.
-11301 for ½” wide belts with steel wheel. Perfect for polishing turbine blades.

-11312 is the heavy-duty version of contact arm 11203. This contact arms comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts.
-11314 comes with 1/4” soft platen pad and made for ¼” wide belts.
-11320 comes with ½” hard platen pad and made for ½” wide belts. This contact arm allows the operator to do flat grinding using the platen pad at or near corners and edges of large radiuses. The contact wheel is offset to prevent gouging.
-11321 comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts.
-11322 for ½” wide belts that are 60 to 80 grit. This contact arm has guide wheels that removes raised material within .020” or less without undercutting.
-11325 comes with steel platen pad and made for ½” wide belts. This contact arm is for flat grinding and heavy stock removal.
-11329 comes with ½” soft platen pad and made for ½” wide belts. This contact arm provides the operator with a 17” workable reach.
-11330 comes with ¼” thin platen pad and made for ¼” wide belts.
-11337 comes with ½” thin platen pad and made for ½” wide belts; Allows an operator to enter channels as narrow as 9/16”.
-11350 for ¾” wide belts; This contact arm is excellent for cleaning oxide off electrical bus bars and it gives the operator a 12” workable reach.
-11360 for ½” wide belts; This contact arm has a unique offset design that allows the user to grind over contact wheels or strap polish.
MINI DYNAFILE II
The Mini-Dynafile II is our lightweight, ergonomic belt tool features a multi-position grinding head that pivots 360. The belt guard easily swivels for quick abrasive changes without removing the guard.
Model 15003 includes contact arm 15026.
Model 15013 includes contact arm 15035.
Model 15006 is the Versatility Kit which includes model 15003, contact arms 15026, 15028, and 15030 and an assortment of abrasive belts. The threaded collet insert, 01644, is also provided to easily convert tool to a ¼” die grinder.

DYNAFILE III
The Dynafile III offers all the versatility of the Dynafile II, while serving up more power for faster material removal. A soft grip handle assembly is available on some models that allows the operator to apply additional force to contact wheel and offer more enhanced control. Contact arms from the Dynafile II may be used on the Dynafile III.
Model 15300 includes contact arm 15350 for 1” wide belts. The soft grip handle assembly, 53163, is included with this model.
Model 15302 is the Versatility Kit which includes Dynafile III, model 15300, an assortment of abrasive belts, spare drive wheel (15336), and contact arms 15321, 15350, and 15357.
Model 15400 includes contact arm 11206 and does not include the soft grip handle assembly.
Model 15401 includes contact arm 11287 and does not include the soft grip handle assembly.
Model 15360 includes contact arm 15368 and does include the soft grip handle assembly.
Model 15420 includes contact arm 11702 and does not include the soft grip handle assembly.

-11702 for ¼” or ½” wide belts; This contact arm is for use only on Dynafile III, model 15420. It is perfectly designed to reach up to 2” in a channel and is great for used with scalloped edge abrasives.

-15356 comes with 1” soft platen pad and made for 1” wide belts. This contact arm has a serrated wheel and is reversible – it can be flipped to allow platen sanding or strap polishing.
-15357 comes with 1” soft platen pad and made for 1” wide belts. This contact arm has a “V” shaped wheel and is reversible – it can be flipped to allow platen sanding or strap polishing.
-15368 for 1” wide belts. This contact arm allows for longer reach and comes with a serrated wheel.
-15375 for 1” wide belts. This contact arm comes with a serrated wheel and is great for strap polishing.
TIPS
Grinding from the return side of the belt will greatly enhance tool performance and increase belt life. Belts can be reused if the abrasive hasn’t worn.
The Dynafile II can be used as a die grinder when using the appropriate collet.
So, what belts can be used interchangeably?
Dynafile II contact arms can be used on a Dynafile III. However, not all Dynafile III contact arms can work on a Dynafile II. The Dynafile only takes contact arms that are intended for the Dynafile. The Mini-Dynafile II only takes contact arms that are intended for the Mini-Dynafile II.
