The 2021 season of racing for Maduri and the Dynabrade race team was anything than boring. Dynabrade hosted a Night at the Races at Lancaster Drag way on August 20th of 2021, where at that time and until the world championship, Maduri sat at number 2. There were several cars featured that night and the Dynabrade community came in full force to support.
Maduri teamed up with another local race team, Bauer Racing, with one goal in mind – to win a Professional Drag Racing Association (PDRA) World Championship. Together they created one of the quickest dragsters. The PDRA series travels around the country and draws the best competitors in the U.S. and beyond. Maduri and the Dynabrade race team traveled everywhere … Ohio, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Indianapolis, and beyond to accumulate points and try to give a world championship a shot. The competitors they competed against had many years of experience running race cars of that caliber – our team had no previous experience tuning a dragster this fast and Maduri noted he had no prior driving experience going this fast (covering the 1/8 mile in 3.70 seconds at speeds of 198-200 mph, and covering the ¼ mile in under 6.00 seconds at over 240 mph).
Things began coming together in a hurry and they were able to grab their first PDRA National Event win in Norwalk, Ohio end of May. Heads began turning and nobody had to ask who the Dynabrade Race Team was. As the season continued to unfold, Maduri found himself number two in the world standings going into the last two events. This is when a rivalry began between Maduri and a very well-known racer from Arden, NC, Michael White – it resulted in what the PDRA has termed one of the most intense points battles in the history of PDRA Racing.
It ended up coming down to the final event and the final round at the World Finals in Dinwiddie, Virginia. The Dynabrade Race Team was able to pull it off by just one round! Maduri and the team officially became the 2021 PDRA Elite Top Dragster World Champions. Maduri shared what this meant to him, "It has been a dream of mine to compete in this category since I was a young child. To be ranked number one in the world in the class I just wanted a chance to compete in for the last 30 years, is just indescribable. It truly has not even set in yet. To do it all with Dynabrade behind me and traveling around the country showing racers the Dynabrade Difference, makes it all that much more special."
Just to put this in perspective… between the NHRA and PDRA (the two main drag racing associations out there), they crown a total of seven world champions in seven different sportsman categories. Maduri and the team are one of the seven, and we did it in the quickest class on the planet, Elite Top Dragster.
Maduri and the Dynabrade race team will officially be crowned champion at the annual PDRA banquet December 10th in Indianapolis, Indiana as part of the PRI Show.
