What Does "Dynabrade" Mean?
Dynabrade was started in 1969 on April 1st by Walter Welsch.
Throughout the years our tool line has grown extensively since the introduction of the Dynafile®.
When Walter Welsch founded the company in 1969 with the Dynafile®, he had created an air-powered
abrasive belt sander to replace tedious hand filing.
Since then, Dynabrade has grown to become the global leader in abrasive power tools. More than just a
manufacturer, our value is in educating people worldwide on how to solve applications with our dependable,
ergonomic, and cost-saving techniques.
Outgrowing our facility, we moved to Clarence, NY in 1990 and have continued expansion
on the building.
Through the work and continued entrepreneurial spirit of our employees,
we are able to consistently thrive.
Many people have asked where our name came from.
The prefix "Dyna" means "power" from the classical Greek
"dynamis" and "a-brade" is "to scrape or wear away by friction or erosion. Loosely translated as "powered
abrasive". The name Dynabrade represents the types of products that we manufacture. It also distinguishes us
from other power tool manufacturers.
With Walter's spirit still thriving, Dynabrade can continue to bring our line of powered abrasive tools
to the market.
Quality and durable tools are still consistently made and sold globally. On top of our premium industrial
tools, we offer innovative solutions to help companies further adapt to new technologies and reducing process
times. If you are interested in what our experts can do for you, contact us below.
