Where Dynabrade Fits
in the Oil & Gas Industries

The oil and gas industries are vast with many moving parts. In terms of dollar value, this industry is the largest worldwide. Understanding the petrochemical industry, what is needed, and where it's headed is key. Dynabrade has been a strong force and continues to grow in the oil and gas sector.

The oil and gas industry can be separated into three segments – upstream, midstream, and downstream.

Upstream
Upstream is defined by the oil and gas land and offshore drilling production, exploration, fracking, and general downhole drilling activities. Dynabrade tools are widely used in the upstream segment. Grinding, deburring, and surface reconditioning are much needed, and our tools fit the need. Our tools can be used on downhole tooling manufacturing such as drill bits, reamers, mandrels, frac blocks, casings, tubing, and well screening.

Midstream
Midstream is the processing, transport, and storage of crude oil and natural gas. This is usually done by way of pipeline, truck, and/or other means of storage for crude oil and natural gas for refining. Dynabrade tools are used for grinding, deburring, surface conditioning and weld preparation. The welding is a huge part of the pipeline construction. Dynabrade also can help service truck tank transport vehicles with a variety of our tools.

Downstream
Downstream are the processes that occur after production. An example would be the refinement of oil and gas. The manufacturing and refurbishment of heat exchange units for the refineries is where our tools can fit in. Grinding and deburring is made easy with Dynabrade tools.

Through all three segments, Dynabrade is used to make the job easier. Overall, the upstream segment widely uses Dynabrade power tools to assist with much of the grinding and deburring that takes place during the drilling production. The downstream segment is where the oil and gas are processed and refined. Natural gas is processed into ethane, propane, or butanes. From there it can be processed further into ethylene, propylene, and butylene. Crude oil is refined into naphta or gas oil. After it is refined the amount of finished product is greater than the volume of the original crude oil.
